The Government has announced decisions strengthening management of drug and alcohol impairment in aviation and maritime.
The changes will make it mandatory for all commercial aviation and maritime operators to have drug and alcohol management plans, which must include random testing. The changes will also give the Directors of Civil Aviation and Maritime New Zealand the power to conduct non-notified testing on staff performing safety sensitive activities.
